Berlin Blues

Post by Jutta »

Hi all,
I have found a CD Colin Hodgkinson is one of the musicians. Dont know if it is good music or bad. When I understand it correctly there are all cover songs. Look at http://www.monstersandcritics.de/artike ... Frank-Diez
There is said that Tony Hicks (who died 2006) would have played with Chris Rea. Maybe they mixed him up with Colin Hodgkinson (?) Never heard from Tony Hicks.

Bye

Hi Juta,

I posted these links a while back here on the forum.....

Here's a great clip of Colin!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gutdzlH ... re=related

...a little more background on Colin Hodgkinson's former band "Back Door":
http://www.cultfound.org/back%20door%20int%20ch.htm

a little bio on Tony here...
http://www.cultfound.org/backdoor-tonyh ... ibutes.htm

...and an interview with Tony Hicks, who happened to mention the original Fireflies...
http://www.cultfound.org/back%20door%20int%20th.htm
(make sure you link to parts 2 & 3 at the bottom of the page...)

and here's Tony playing not drums, but the accordion!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELred1G5HE8

There used to be drum solo videos by Tony Hicks on youtube, but they were all removed. I have them at home, I'll see if I can post them somewhere else...

I also have a great clip of the Chris Rea Lorelei 85 concert in Germany where Chris introduces the band during "I Don't Know What It Is But I Love It", including Tony playing a solo, but youtube won't let me post it!!! :(
There are copyright issues about it, I guess...

They did allow me to post the rest of the concert though...!! There are 12 songs from that concert, except the last one I mentioned before.

(Click on the 4th page at the bottom, from Touche D'Amour through Bombollini)

Tony was one of the greatest drummers around.... 8)

Hi Lily,
thanks for the information. Where do you always have it all so quickly? :D
Now I know who Tony Hicks was. I must admit that I did not care about the musicians around Chris so much cause they changed so often. But actually it is interesting. I wonder how they came to Chris. Did Chris choose them by himself or did the management see to it? When you read the story of Tony it seems to be so easy but I think that there is a lot of competition.
Funny also that Chris never was just a member of a band for a longer time.

I read about a background vocal singer of Chris who died a few years ago. Chris visited him in hospital. I cant remember his name.

Take care
regards from Romania this time

Great find Deep Blue! :D

Interesting connection, so...if Daisy and Chris are cousins, then, what about Chris and Tony, first cousins?

And here are links to Tano Rea, but there's no mention of Chris anywhere....
