No, it wasn't Japan either; it was....Germany!
I was taken aback myself. I always thought he would be cherished more at home, in Britain.
But the British scene was more into disco and electronic music at the time he was making money in Germany.
Chris said himself he never really wanted to be a rock-and roll star.
Take care,
Chris

Gosh,

i knew that Germany was a past good commercial land for CR. I was living in Strasbourg 31 years, at the German border.....

But i understood the question for the futur...... shame......

In Germany, CR make Football stadium full, and in luxembourg the huge rockhall was also full, but in france, he make a small musichall "La cigalle" in Paris only half... .... in 2004 ..... it was my wedding gift of my brother...... i was 2 meters fare from CR during 2 hours......

arg ...... not Photo allowed, shame.....

Chris, you have a new question ?

Here's another one...
There are so many songs in Chris' repertoire that one could practically ask a question about every one of them.
"Windy Town", for instance, could well have been written for Chicago, but it wasn't. Who knows what "windy town" Chris had in mind?
Take care,
Chris

Chris, you're making it too easy!....

Middlesbrough

Here's the next question,

who was Chris' first drummer, who played with him from 1976 to 1980?

(he recently contacted me on my youtube channel, nice fellow!)

Sorry,

but thats not right.

On DELTICS 1979 Norman Nosebait was not at work.

For this you can see

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Rea

Sorry for that.

Hello Pizzaaddi,

Sorry that you are misinformed, but any Chris Rea fan will tell you, just read the sleeve of the original LP, or CD, and you will see this:

6 & 12 STRING ACOUSTIC GUITARS, SLIDE AND ALL ELECTRIC GUITARS,
ACCORDION, PIANOS AND SYNTHESIZERS: CHRIS REA

DRUMS: NORMAN NOSEBAIT

BASS: MICK HUTCHINSON

ORGAN: GRAHAM WATSON

Wikipedia is written by common people, like you and me, so anybody can get in there and edit what they wish, which makes that site largely inaccurate. The "Deltics" link in Wikipedia has the wrong line up for that album: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deltics

Dave Mattacks and Max Middleton didn't play with Chris until 1981, on the CHRIS REA album.

Kevin Leach started in 1983, on the WATER SIGN album.

Martin Ditcham, Eoghan O'Neill, and Robert Ahwai started In 1985, on the SHAMROCK DIARIES album.

(Eoghan O'Neill replaced Kevin Powell on bass, after he left)

And, Adrian Rea played in 1986, on the ON THE BEACH album.

So there you have it.... :D

Lily

P.S. I must say I'm confused by Robert Ahwry...did he play with Chris or is that just a misprint. Does anybody know?

Was it Sister Rosetta Tharp? (Unsure if I spelt her name correct)

If I'm right then my question is.....On which Chris Rea song can the sound of a train blowing it's whistle be heard?

If my answer is wrong then ignore my question :)

Hi Beat,

That would be Charlie Patton singing and playing slide guitar, which Chris heard on the radio at his mom's bedroom while fixing his hair at her vanity mirror.

Did you mean Georgia, USA?

Cheers,

Lily
