Would you buy the new album with 2 new songs?

Post by elangelo »

Hello everybody,
I think the idea is not new, but since there have been so many opinions about the new Best of, I thought it might be interesting to know how many of you would buy this CD and how many that won't. I find the idea of not buying it very attractive (why did they place an acoustic guitar on the cover, really?), but I see that some fans would still buy the CD. So I've created this poll. It's interesting what it shows :)

I will buy only the deluxe edition and only in case someone tells me the artwork's really good (as took a look at the preview at amazon.co.uk I'm not sure it's really good) and the new old songs are really bluesy and worth listen in anyone's opinion. I'm quite sure many of you will have been ready to tell me this by the time I'm available to get the CD/DVD.

best regards to all of you here,

Hey there,

For those interested in the design aspect of it, I have been looking at the art of the new album really close and ...it's awesome!

Think about it, the neon lights are traffic lights on a highway and the soundhole a rotonda, the bridge and saddle are parking lot lights, even the frets on the fretboard are made of highway signs...and the enclosed guitar body (red neons) could be a racing track?... very creative if you ask me!

If you look at the promo video used on mlk you can see the whole theme is going from one hit song to the next on a highway with billboards... a trip down the road to hell...?

scroll down a bit to see the video:
http://www.mlk.com/rea/1021-still_so_fa ... _tour_2010

I get it now!

I have a close up section of it on my site:
http://www.youtube.com/user/lilybee06

This is probably going to be the theme for the new site, which it's suppose to launch Oct 5th.... :-)

Cheers,

Lily

Haven´t changed my head with this, two new songs ain´t worth of using around 20 euros,
that makes 10 euros / song and that I call expensive. And I ain´t buying cd´s because of the art,
paintings and other art is whole another thing. So, still asking people are you gonna take part on this rip off?
Collection number, I can´t even remember how many there are, but [EDIT: Please don't use this word] too many.
Too many good words to add here.

Well, I noticed that thing with traffic lights, but it still could have been an electric guitar

I agree with you Bart (as do 73% on the site) I've ordered all editions and I can hardly wait !
By the way thanks for your take on this Lily. With your background in graphic arts you picked up on lots of stuff i missed.I'm sure alot of conversation & art goes into an album cover.

I can't speak for Bart but I collect every version of C.R.'s releases (when I can find them).
AS a matter of fact I think I have every CD he's released (ep's,Japanese versions,etc.).
I can't claim to have all the vinyl but from the photos Bart's posted of his vinyl collection it looks like he does.
Some people collect to collect

I just noticed this topic.
It's very interesting and there's more in it than the obvious!
The answer is saying much!
I,for example would (and had) buy it!
I am not a collector, I don't have all the releases (still, lucky you, Bart and Jim!) but there's something unique about Chris Rea: all he does is great! I have never been disappointed by anything he ever did! And, that sure earned Chris much credit with me!
Besides the picture, slide and one pick (one was lost in transport! :( ) CD's were and still are worth much more than I payed! Songs are remastered and some are almost different versions! The Blue Cafe is a great example...
(And artworwork IS great)
All in all, I'm happy!
I am happy I can afford it and enjoy it!

No bad words to be said here!
So Mr Blues should drink that beer already!
Oh look out world, take a good look

Well, drinking the beer for sure, why not? :)
You can waste your money on "best of" albums if you like,
I got much better ways to spend money, for example to real blues albums.
