April fools' joke: Chris Rea ends his musical career

Post by MRB »

Sad news in the news papers all over the place today, Chris Rea ends his musical career.
He says that it´s time to end touring and making new music and concentrate on his family and his own health issues.

All the best Chris !!

Edit webmaster: This post turned out to be an April fools' joke!

Didn't he say that back in 2006?

Hope he will reconsider...

Hi Ann,
thanks for the link! Yes, we heard the same in 2006, but then he said that new medicines allowed him to continue touring, so he really was considering leaving but changed his mind. If he says that now that could mean that even the new medicines don't work for touring anymore.

Let's hope he will go into the studio and make something new though, Elangelo.
It would be sad if he would retire... All that creativity he still has. I hope he will still share that :(

Probably aprils fool day. Hence the official site with the new LaPassione....

If he stops later in this century;he knows he's the man and Chris knows it.

I can imagine he wants to stop touring because of his health. But I really hope he keeps releasing new music so often as he has done in the past. And then again. There must be 1.000's of unreleased snippets on the shelves. Perhaps an intresting question; from which era you would like to hear some previously unreleased material?

Maybe it's just me but I've seen nothing that says Chris is to stop touring! Can MRB post the link to the article? Also I am sceptical of any newspaper article printed on the 1st April in the UK which is traditionally the date for printing believable stories that are fictitious, unless of course it's the Daily Mail which does it for the other 364 days as well !!

oh, I didn't notice the post was from April 1. But if it's a joke it's a bad one because it's really bad to make jokes about someone having health issues

I'm sorry, but I just don't believe that Chris has decided to end his musical career. I, too, have searched the internet and have found no evidence of this.

I found this link, which gives you an oversight to everything that's published in papers in the UK, as far as I understand, you can follow a certain known person and keep "updated" so to speak:

hello everyone !

joke was actually about him ending musical career, no intensions to make humor about health issues.
and yes, it was indeed aprils fool joke, but as it took 20 days to someone reply i wished this post would vanish.
i think we will still hear from him, new music and maybe even tours, hope for the best :)

Right, I think Bart could just delete this topic then, didn't think it was funny either... Anyway, we shouldn't confuse any fans who see this topic long after April 1.
