I love the new versions of the old tunes :D and I think this could be the best compilation since NLTOW

I'm as bad as the rest of you in always wanting new material but I think we should be grateful in what we have as I can't currently think of any other artist who has released as many albums as Chris and the new versions will feed my hunger, well for a couple of months anyway.

Same here and this just might keep me going until the next ear book.I think these ones will be better cause they will be finally sung the way Chris wants to sing them and not the way some record company thinks they should be sung.
Tina :) :)

Thanks everybody for the info! It is great to see a new album will be released, and I am quite looking forward to hearing the "oldies" in a new "coat" (specially love the idea of a new studio recording of "the road..." my all-time-fav song!). On the other hand, I don't like all the "newies" (is this correct english?) selected for the album; and I doubt if they will be interesting for the "main stream" public who usually tends to buy only the best-of albums (appart from us loonies who want to have it all...)... Let's wait and see.

Hi David,
Thanks for the link. This is very unusual for Chris Rea to do ....make his albums available through download. It could explain why it is not available in music stores. If anyone is thinking of buying it this way song 10 is THE BEAT GOES ON and not Baby Don't Cry as listed and according to the site you have to have a credit card with a British address.
Tina :) :)

This annoys the hell out of me....A website that can be accessed from ALL over the world and they put conditions like that on their download site.I was going to buy the album but then I thought why should I.If they can't let me use my own credit card then its their loss.I'll wait for Amazon insted.

Tina don't let to.
Although I agree it's pathetic... but what do you expect from a British site...? Excuse me lads from the UK...

Your absolutely right. And see the bright side: I've listened to the samples and let's say I can't wait to hear all those new versions!! Road to Hell really rules.

AND of course many thanks for David for the link!

Well mine was The Man Comes Around from Johnny Cash... but once I took a look at Fool and saw it's not that difficult so I learned that instantly. Unfortunately I forgot a huge part of it since then despite the fact I wrote my own lyrics for it (in Hungarian)... I remember I travelled on the train and this song just didn't go out of my head and then somehow the lyrics came...
So anyway, a great-great song and a real fun to play!
Chris

Getting back to the original topic.....

I will get this collection just like the rest of you, because I simply collect everything Chris Rea does. To this day he's still my favorite musician and an exceptional genius.

I was reading the posts from the Personal Favorites, I think Bart moved them around a bit, but we're all still there, :-)

I REAlised we are all die-hard-fans of Chris. And in mentioning our favorites, the usual suspects always come up on top: Josephine, On The Beach, Fool, etc.

I don't ever get tired of those songs, even if there are 20 released versions of each, PLUS 20 unreleased versions from concerts and such, :-))

But.... I would really like to see Chris do a release of his early B sides, (because his collection of B sides is exceptional and they really meant something back then!), and, some of his Unreleased material that he may have put aside, that the regular public has never heard....

It would also be perfect if he finished his Biography that he started long ago....
in a big fat book WITH LOTS OF PICTURES!!!!

Anxiously waiting for his next release,

Lily
