Chris in North America

Post by Jim M »

Can anyone help me ?
A friend of mine swears he saw a Chris Rea concert in Montreal.
This would have been around the time he appeared on Letterman as he was in Montreal for the F1 race (which he mentioned on the show). Also does anyone know of ANY concerts he did in North America ?
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim, :D

I read he did a club gig in Toronto, ("very rare show in Canada"), on 22.03.1994.

I also read he did some clubs in NYC and LA in the early 80s,
but nothing "taped" that I know of.... :(

Yeah, I heard the same thing. Played some clubs in New York and LA and didn't get a good vibe. Said he didn't want to play in America after that stint. Too bad. We'd love to see him without have to cross the 'big pond' but doubtful that will ever happen.

I heard he was in the states doing research and background stuff for Blue Guitars. Anyone know anything about that??

Hey Jim,

As you already know, these videos are from Chris "appearances" in America....

And, did you ever noticed the back footage on this version of Heartbeat-88?
from New York/Trenton ( Jersey ) signs, to old Times Square, even what looks a lot like the Queensboro Bridge...

Now the only "concert" known on this side of the pond is the one in Toronto, in 94.

I'll keep you posted.... :D

Hi folks,
I think he did do research becasue he bought an old Dobro guitar in a second hand shop over there.

As for Touring in the US, when his daughters were young I don't think he wanted to because it would have meant being away from his family for a long period where as in Europe he could go home betwenn gigs.
Regards,
Kev.

On the back of my espresso logic -shirt Canada and the US are printed as ,,touring dates"! So it must have been in spring 94.
