Listening to the epic Clarkson Blues today reminded me that non- British fanson the forum might not know what CR is singing about on this song ...one of the biggest UK tv shoes is a car review show called "Top Gear "...and it is hosted by Jeremy Clarkson ....who each week gets to drive the greatest cars in the world and get paid for it ....got a funny feeling CR would love that job ....hence the lyrics...;
King of the wheels
sell your mother for what that big guy do
Sure beat everybody to the best job in town ....etc .......the more you read , the more sense it makes
When Clarkson made a documentary called "Speed" , the title music was Stony Road ....more info on these links ;

You are right us non British fans had no idea.
It does sound like a dream job for C.R. -Perhaps mix a little music with the road test !

Thanks for the info Alan,
Top Gear sounds like a great show. On the show credits it says the opening theme is "Jessica", composed by Dickey Betts. Dickey was a former and founding member of The Allman Bros. Band.
Not to get "out of track" here but Chuck Leavell has an interesting video excerpt on that song.....

We do know Chuck, and his wife Rosy, the nicest people ever!!!
They live about 40 mins. North of us. He's a very well known Forest Conservationist here in the States, but most people know him from the Rolling Stones....

Really? No Johnny B. Goode, Rock and Roll Music, Roll Over Bethoven?
No Particular Place To Go, even Run Rudolph Run????
(Too many songs to mention here...!!)
Actually, My Ding A Ling was Chuck Berry's ONLY # 1 hit anywhere!
(not crazy about that song...
)
We should do a post on Chuck Berry alone, and all his collaborations,

oops sorry... think I will have to make sure I read before I post in future

I like this song but I think you have to laugh at it...not sure if it was meant to be serious and yes it's hard to believe that this was his only Number 1

This would be a great idea.I like Chuck Berry.
