The Blue Jukebox cover

Post by marcolino »

Maybe not all of you are aware that the cover of this CD recalls (and was probably inspired by) a very known painting of the american painter Edward Hopper. That painting is "The Nighthawks", and here's a link where you can see an imagine of that work.

Well, I like art as well as music, and Hopper is one of my favourite painters of the XXth century. I have a catalogue of his works, so when I bought TBJ I noticed from the very first moment I saw its cover that it was a reworking of "The nighthawks". I never thought to "reveal" this to anyone until now, though....

Haha!! Gotcha Chris! :D

...but, I think, Chris still better plays the guitar... ;)

Hey, Marcolino, that was a good shot!

As I can read from the booklet, the front cover illustration is by a certain Paul Slater and not by Chris, though I think he has approved the cover itself. In fact, this kind of painting is not in the "Chris' style"....

Why do you think so? Retro bluesy cafe with a bit lone people... jukebox... old car... a lot of blue tones... and, if it's not in Chris' style, why does it appear at Chris' album cover? :D

I, think Marcolino ment, it's not Chris'style of painting. Like Rembrand and van Gogh are not painting in the same style.
