Chris is going to buy a new Caterham?

Post by andrew fischer »

Hi everyone!

Some weeks ago I read an article in the russian edition of the well-known “Top Gear” magazine. The article was about new Caterham Super Seven model R400 with Cosworth engine.
And there was said that Chris Rea, an old Caterham fan, when knew about it, immediately joined the queue to buy this car. But we all know that about a year ago Chris sold his blue Caterham telling he had got enough of that extreme car.
Does anybody know, or has any ideas whether the Top Gear was speculating with Chris’s name, or there’s something true about it? I suppose this article could be seen in other european Top Gear editions, so someone else here might come across it.

Well I consider it’s wonderful if Chris again would be a Caterham owner, ‘coz for me seeing Caterhams was always associating with Chris, and a blue Super Seven is my dream car.

Best regards,
&ru.

Hi Andrew,
I have read this in another magazine so I assumed it was true but maybe it just started in one mag and spread. We will have to wait and see. like you I will always associate Caterhams with Chris.

In the radio interview on Sunday Chris said he has bought Jim Clarks Lotus Cortina 8) and he wants to race it at the Goodwood revival meeting.

Hi Kev! It's great that Chris's got a new car, but I am surely disappointed to hear it's not Caterham... :( Also, shame on me, but don't know who is Jim Clark and how does his Lotus Cortina look like and what times it comes from... :? I can only suppose it's something like AC Cobra or Austin Healey driven by Mark Knopfler???

Jim Clark is (was) a '60's formula 1 driver from Scotland, the most interesting part in the interview is that he mantioned that back in his youth in middlesborough that was a car you wanted, and that he realised that he never really wanted a ferrari ("if you dare take it out of the garage  )

Hi everybody!

I finally (by acident, as usual :D ) found an official information about Chris's new Cateham Superlight R400. Here it is:

//First in the queue to own the car is rock legend Chris Rea, a long standing Seven owner. "When I heard about plans to introduce a replacement for the old R400, I simply had to have one!" commented Rea. "The combination of Cosworth power and the Series 3 chassis delivers an adrenaline rush and a level of performance that I cannot resist."//
The whole acticle with pictures you can find here:

As the production began in July, I think Chris could already enjoy driving it now. Amazing - is it again a blue Seven?
